Claude Monet

Claude Monet (1840–1926) was the driving force behind French Impressionism, a movement
named after his painting Impression, Sunrise. His revolutionary style focused on capturing the
fleeting effects of light on nature. Personally, Monet found sanctuary at his home in Giverny.
Despite outliving two wives and battling severe cataracts, he meticulously cultivated the
stunning water gardens that served as the enduring focus of his final iconic masterpieces.
