Michelangelo

Michelangelo Buonarroti (1475–1564) was a towering figure of the Italian Renaissance,
revered as a sculptor, painter, and architect. His unparalleled mastery of the human form is
immortalized in iconic masterpieces like the David and the Sistine Chapel ceiling. Personally,
he was a solitary, deeply religious man known for his fiery temper, often called terribilità. He
never married, dedicating his intense, exhausting life almost entirely to his artistic pursuits until
his death at age 88.
